MOUNTAIN MEN ARREST 8 SUSPECTS ON FRIDAY 02 SEPTEMBER 2011.

1. 6 SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR HOUSEBREAKING. POLICE OFFICER’S VEHICLE USED.
2. ONE SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT IN LAKESIDE.
3. ONE SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR THEFTCIVALS 2000 – St. JAMES.

On the 2nd of September 2011 @ 11h00 Mountain Men Security Observation Unit spotted a silver Golf and a white Toyota Tazz in Driver Street, Lakeside. The occupants of these two vehicles proceeded to break into a townhouse and attempted to break into a second townhouse. Our Armed Response units, Special Response Teams and other members of our company were deployed to the area. SAPS was informed of the crimes in progress, but the suspects started to depart from the crime scenes before SAPS arrived. Our units set themselves up in strategic positions and intercepted the suspects while in the process of getting away.

Stolen property was found in the possession of the six suspects as well as housebreaking implements. One of the suspects has a brother who is a Police Officer stationed at Claremont SAPS. This Officers’ motor vehicle was one of the vehicles used in the commission of these crimes. All six suspects are due to appear in Muizenberg court today. Detectives from police stations around the peninsula are interested in this case as there may be a link to similar cases in other police areas.
